A Bunch of Jokers, indeed!

Home » A Bunch of Jokers, indeed!

We have a pool of young players who are very consistent at being inconsistent and a bunch of selectors whom we don’t know. We have a system where our ex-players head selection panels and various technical committees while rugged businessmen take control of finances and operations.

The appointments are made behind closed doors, leaving no scope for the game’s followers to understand the process or the credibility of the appointees. Until and unless, the man in in-charge is an ex-cricketer or a seasoned politician, we really have no idea from where, how and why these men have made it to the top. Contributing to the confusion are the regional and political lobbies which work overtime in getting a player selected or axed.

The BCCI is not answerable to the government nor the general public. An attitude which got them into trouble several times. One of it’s old foxes, Jagmohan Dalmiya spills the beans in an interview with Tehelka.

More than an year back, the BCCI had announced the launch of “one of the most prominent portals” in the world and all we have is a one page website with a couple of errors! So, what is really happening at the helm? Who is writing the policies and who is implementing them?

Amidst this mess is the Indian team which has problems of its own. Cricket is an entertaining sport and it never fails to live up to its reputation in India thanks to these bunch of jokers.
