Sachin back at the top! – ICC Rankings

Home » Sachin back at the top! – ICC Rankings

India may have surrendered the ongoing series to Australia but Sachin Tendulkar  did well to jump three places and move into the top 10 in latest LG ICC  ODI Rankings, issued on Monday.

Tendulkar, who scored a half-century in a lost cause in the Nagpur ODI, moved three rungs to join Chris Gayle of the West Indies  at joint ninth.
Down the list, Yuvraj Singh  too climbed three places to 15th, followed by captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni , who made similar progress.

However, former captain Rahul Dravid  slipped seven places and now lies 22nd, while India’s highest-placed bowler in the relevant table is Harbhajan Singh , down at 29th position.

In contrast, Australia’s Andrew Symonds  is within touching distance of top spot among ODI batsmen.

The powerful right-hander has rocketed up six spots to second place and is now just eight points behind his captain, Ricky Ponting .

Symonds forms an impressive Australian 1-2-3 at the top of the batting table, behind Ponting but ahead of Matthew Hayden .

With three other Australia players inside the top 11 — Michael Hussey (5th), Michael Clarke  (8th) and Adam Gilchrist  (11th) — it is not surprising that the Australians hold the World Cup, the ICC Champions Trophy and a clear lead in the ODI Championship table.

Australia’s left-arm wrist spinner Brad Hogg  also broke into the top 10 on the back of being the joint leading wicket-taker — alongside teammate Mitchell Johnson — in the India series with 11 victims.

Hogg is one of three Australia bowlers in that top 10 with Nathan Bracken  (3rd) and Brett Lee  (9th).

Australia currently holds a seven point lead in the LG ICC ODI Championship table over South Africa, while India languish at sixth, behind Pakistan.

Its simply ridiculous to drop Dravid. A person who has done so much for cricket. One has to ask a simple question as is Robin Uthappa a better batsmen than Dravid at no.3.
